Perpetual Tension
Perpetual Tension, Fallot Urban Art Center, 2010
“I am drawn to the nature’s way of holding the opposites together, creating paradox.
my works are the classical inquiry into the meaning of human volition relative to so-called “life,” the uncontrollable.
This force of living energy was recognized by Koreans as “Ki,” a term coined by Taoists and explored in Tao Te Ching of Laozi.
In these works I am mostly concerned with creating a paradoxical situation where movements in different layers work independently from each other but there are points when they are synchronized. This makes me think of parallel universe where two separate systems crossover at some random spots. This kind of imagination makes me exhilarated. Life is so much bigger than what we know… This is where scientist part of me comes out.”
